Edmonton Headstone / Gravestone Prices
We manufacture and sell custom memorials
We offer competitive prices for gravestones, headstones and memorials, and we ship anywhere in Alberta
How much does a monument cost? This is one of the most common questions asked by our customers. It’s a fair question, and this article will provide some answers. Before breaking down all the pricing factors, it’s important to point out that since we (new owners Paul and Ashley Crosty) acquired the business in 2021, we haven’t raised our prices. We believe in offering a fair price that is competitive in the market, while still providing the same quality that has defined the company for over sixty years. Since acquiring the business, we have expanded our production facility, opened a new showroom in South Edmonton, and implemented changes to business processes that have reduced the costs of selling, designing, and manufacturing memorials. These cost savings have allowed us to maintain our headstone / gravestone prices, as opposed to continually increasing prices year over year, as has been the industry standard. Additionally, the improved production efficiencies ensure your monument will be installed on time, as agreed to in the delivery timelines established at the time of purchase of the monument. Furthermore, we have the largest stock of memorial inventory in the market, which allows our customers to select and receive their monument within 6-8 weeks from purchase, and often sooner.
With two Edmonton showrooms, we are able to showcase the largest display of granite memorials in Northern Alberta,
providing a customer experience that is unparalleled in the memorial industry.
No appointments are required and walk-ins are welcome.

One of the leading causes for headstone / gravestone price increases is due to the high commissions paid to funeral homes by the monument dealers. To maintain margins, monument dealers continue to increase prices year after year, which has drastically inflated the retail price for gravestones, headstones, and memorials. Edmonton Granite Memorials only supplies to a handful of long-term funeral home partners, which represents a very small portion of our overall revenue. This gives us the ability to focus on selling memorials directly to the customer. You can purchase from either of our two Edmonton showrooms, in person, over the phone, or by using on online form on our website. By giving the customer flexibility in how they purchase, Edmonton Granite Memorials, has been able to make a difficult purchase a bit easier, while also reducing the financial burden.
Our goal is simple, to provide a memorial that meets the your needs while respecting your budget. Memorial consultants at Edmonton Granite Memorials do not upsell, and do not receive commissions. We have a team sales approach, which enables any of our memorial consultants to seamlessly accommodate your needs, no matter when you call or walk into one of the showrooms. With respect to finding the right memorial, it is important to understand your cemetery’s regulations and fees. Most cemeteries have established bylaws that determine the type of monument within the given areas of the cemetery. It’s important to understand this first before purchasing a monument.
Factors that will influence the price of a headstone, gravestone, or memorial.
There are several factors that can impact the price of a monument; size, type, and colour are the most common influences on price. Flat markers are often the most cost-effective type of monument, which are placed in the ground, flush and level with the grass. Pillow monuments are a higher price point than flat markers, and are most commonly placed on a base and foundation, but sometimes a base isn’t required. Upright monuments are often the most expensive option, however, there are many different shapes and sizes that can work for different budgets. For example, the most common thickness for an upright is six inches, however, you can purchase the same size in a four inch thick upright and save some money. The colour and polish will impact the price as well, with grey and rose being the most cost-effective. Black granite is the most popular choice in the market because of its versatility and is right in the middle from a price perspective when comparing it to the other colours. red and pearl colours (blue and emerald) are the most expensive.
Finally, accessories can increase the price of a memorial as well. Some examples are photo plaques, vases, lanterns, laser etchings, engraving on the back of the monument, custom artwork and coloured bases to name a few. Most rural cemeteries require a foundation as well, that sits below the base and monument, which will contribute to the cost for both the material, and additional installation time, depending on how far away from Edmonton.
Don’t hesitate to call one of our memorial consultants if you have any questions.
