A Variety of Options for Your Memorials and Monuments

Upright Monuments

Our upright monuments are available in several styles; single and double. A single upright monument is designed to mark the resting place of a single person. A double upright monument can be used to mark the grave of a married couple, a mother and her children, or any other combination of loved ones that is desired. Double upright monuments can either be one solid piece of granite or can be two joined pieces with room for flowers or an accessory in the middle. All our upright monuments are available in a variety of colours, sizes, and shapes.

Pillow Monuments

Pillow monuments lay flat on a base, but are slightly raised and sloped so that the back is higher than the front. These monuments can be personalized and engraved the same way as any other monument, the only difference is that they lay flat rather than stand upright. These markers are available in single and double styles as well.

Flat & Bronze Markers

Flat markers can be installed flat against the earth, encased in concrete or on a concrete runner. Granite flat markers are typically 3” thick but can be personalized with engravings, etchings, and granite colour. Bronze flat markers can be installed on a concrete or granite base and are equally customizable.

The most popular choice for pet memorials is a small or medium sized headstone with an etching of the pet’s head, but garden monuments, plaques, and urns are also available for your four-legged love.

Granite Colours to Choose From

We have many granite colours to choose from including black, india red, cats eye, mahogany, mountain rose, gem mist, laurentian green, grey, blue pearl, and brits blue. If you want a laser etching on your headstone, the only granite colour option is black, but all our other memorials are available in your choice of colour. 

Accessories

The design of the gravestone is not the only way to personalize a memorial. Extras such as candle lanterns, porcelain photos, metal or granite vases, incense holders, and marble statues can be chosen and commissioned for an extra personal touch. You can choose to add religious symbols, engrave additional lettering, or install a decorative piece at any time.

Why Are Headstones and Gravestones Made of Granite?

Granite is a very hard substance and is extremely resistant to chipping or scratching, meaning it will last for an exceptionally long time without sustaining damage or breaking down. A person’s memorial is designed to withstand all types of weather, heat, water, and more so they can be remembered for decades to come. Granite is a perfect choice for a monument since it cannot be vandalized, stolen, or otherwise disrupted as easily as other stone options. Since the idea of a headstone is to honour the life of a deceased person, their monument should be aesthetically pleasing as well. Granite is easy to engrave and is naturally a beautiful stone.

How Are Granite Memorials Made?

The process of making a granite headstone is simpler than you might expect. The stone is sourced from a quarry and extracted with a pneumatic drill. The slab makes its way to a granite manufacturer and is then cut into smaller blocks via rotary diamond saw. Once it is cut to the desired size and shape, the stone is polished using a tin oxide powder or water and aluminum. The polishing process naturally darkens the stone and gives it a clean, shiny aesthetic. Any etchings and engravings are performed at the end since the stone must be polished before etching can commence.
